<p>My client located in Northamptonshire is a very well established electronics engineering company specializing in the design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and support of specialized encrypted digital video transmission systems.   <br />This includes Microwave Video Downlinks, RF Inhibitors, Jammers and Analogue Video Links for the Police, Government and Military.    <br />Due to continued expansion my client is now looking for a Digital Test Engineer to join their existing successful team.    <br />The Digital Test Engineer will be responsible for the test and repair of microwave systems down to component levels.</p>
<h2>Main Responsibilities</h2>
<ul>
<li>To ensure that the testing and repair of equipment is carried out effectively.</li>
<li>Build microwave systems from modules and component parts.</li>
<li>Make noise figure measurements and be able to set up and tune microwave receivers and amplifier chains.</li>
<li>Ability to analyze problems and evaluate potential solutions.</li>
<li>Adhere to relevant test regulations to ensure the equipment is safe to use.</li>
<li>Fault find right down to component level and repair the necessary components to ensure that it is more effective.</li>
<li>You will be required to test a number of systems including standard definition, high definition and analogue video systems.</li>
<li>You will be required to do all final tests before the dispatch of end products.</li>
<li>Ability to operate effectively in a high-pressure environment with the minimum amount of supervision.</li>
<li>This is a very hand on role so you will be required to undertake practical work whilst assisting other members of the Digital Video Test Department as and when required.</li>
</ul>
<h2>Applicant Requirements</h2>
<ul>
<li>Minimum HNC / HND Electrical / Electronic Engineering or a similar subject.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of Coded Orthogonal Frequency Domain Multiplexing (C.O.F.D.M).</li>
<li>Amateur Radio License Holder desirable.</li>
<li>Experience within a similar RF or Amplifier role.</li>
<li>Strong background within test and measurement system operation.</li>
<li>Excellent Communication skills.</li>

<p>Day to day responsibilities as follows: Trial Plans (defining the Trial) incorporating: Trial Specifications, Trial Procedures, Trial Scripts, Trial Logs (records of Trial activities), Trial Reports (formal analysis of a Trial). The Trials relate to key assurance events within the Engineering lifecycle e.g. Release requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, as well as formal Trials to validate the solution through Factory Assurance Trials (FAT), Pilots, and Element Assurance Trials (EAT). </p>
<p>Due to the nature of the programme, you will need to be security cleared prior to assignment.</p>

The successful candidate will assist in developing and implementing structured engineering solutions and strategies to meet programme requirements across the whole development lifecycle in accordance with customer requirements, legislation, human factors and business needs. They will be responsible for the control of own work packages to meet agreed technical, quality, cost and schedule requirements. </p>
<h2>Responsibilities</h2>
<ul>
<li>Develop innovative engineering solutions to meet the requirements of the project to agreed schedule, quality and cost requirements across the whole development lifecycle within the context of the lifecycle management process. </li>
<li>Work with customers, other engineering disciplines and other internal departments across the whole development process and respond to their requests in a timely and professional manner. </li>
<li>Capture, define and manage requirements through a disciplined and rigorous approach to requirements management and ask challenging questions about the requirements and architecture of the system at each level of the hierarchy. </li>

<li>Ensure systems architectures are developed considering alternative concepts and trade analysis in order to determine preferred solution. </li>
<li>Understanding of the architecture of product design and ability to create a range of alternative interdisciplinary concepts, perform trade off analysis and determine preferred solution. </li>
<li>Experience of facilitating trade-offs between hardware and software and deriving discipline specific requirements. </li>

<li>Define strategies in order to comprehensively review and exercise designs to detect defects and evaluate features in both development and manufacture. </li>
<li>Understand and implement the requirements for the certification of safety critical products in partnership with the appropriate development assurance level requirements and processes. </li>
<li>Understand safety critical applications and the management of associated risks, hazards and mitigations leading to the development of a system safety case. </li>
<li>Assist the Chief Engineer and Engineering Manager in the formulation of engineering strategy and continual process improvement, in support of the company business and strategic objectives. </li>
<li>Provide effective technical support, including customer liaison, to all departments at both company&#8217;s and customers&#8217; premises as required. </li>
<li>Preparation of schemes and systems architecture design from Customer specifications or approved Research and Development tasks. </li>
<li>Liaison with all SMEs and disciplines with the Design Office in order to produce coherent and comprehensive design solutions and packages. </li>
<li>Preparation and maintenance of Interface Control Specifications. </li>
