Software Test Engineer
The Software Test Engineer role will involve:
- Working as a member of the Software Test Team to perform testing functions including; analysing business and technical requirements.
- Identifying test scenarios writing and reviewing test documentation
- Executing test scripts according to schedule and raising defects and tracking them through to resolution
Ideally the candidate for Software Test Engineer role will have:
- UNIX and Windows experience
- HND or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrated aptitude for coding / scripting is essential, and experience as a software developer is desirable.
This role would also suit a junior skill level Software Engineer / Software Test Engineer

Security Test Engineer
A major supplier to the MOD is looking for a Security Test Engineer with proven experience in information security as a Systems or Security Engineer. Any experience of UK Government or MOD procurement practices would be beneficial.
As Security Test Engineer you will be in a team that is responsible for supporting design analysis and development of an integrated Test and Evaluation Plan. You will be educated to degree level in a Scientific or Engineering discipline and have experience of full lifecycle coverage. Ideally you will hold some kind of recognised information security certification – CHECK, CISSP.
Skills and Knowledge
- Windows and Linux OS administration
- Firewalls, Intrusion detection sensors.
- Auditing tools, syslog, Windows event logs.
- Network devices such as Juniper firewalls, Finjan, Cisco devices, Extreme.
- Familiarity with ArcSight.
- Reporting of security configuration checklists.
As well as having the above skills you will have a flexible approach to work and be willing to work long hours when required.

Software Integration and Test Engineer
An exciting opportunity for a software integration and test engineer has arisen with our client in Newport, a world-leading supplier of communications solutions that deliver increased military capability.
The software integration and test engineer will join the Software Development Group, based in South Wales and will be involved in developing suitable and independent testing of software products, including software integration and qualification of software releases, in support of the software development teams
Responsibilities

Support the Software Development teams by undertaking product level and QV testing of the developed products.

Implementation of test harnesses to assist in software testing and integration at both CSC and CSCI levels.

Close co-operation with the software development teams in the investigation, diagnosis and reporting of software faults.

Preparation of test specifications and test reports.
-
Supporting technical reviews of test status.

Performing any other tasks related to product testing as directed by Software Test Lead.
Essential Skills and experience
-
BS Degree in EE, CS, Physics or equivalent.

Strong background in Software Design, Code, Test, VandV, version control using current methodologies, processes and tools.

Engineering experience in a Software Development and Integration environment. C++ development experience.

An understanding of the OSI-layered communications model, Internet protocols and Routing protocols.

Knowledge of test specification preparation.

Experience of real-time systems development, networking or control systems. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Desirable skills and experience

Defence/automotive/aerospace industry background.

Broad understanding of messaging protocols in both wired and wireless networks, e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, MilCAN

Familiar with Windows or Linux development environments.

Experience of Software Test Tools, e.g. LDRA TestBed, Rational Purify, PRQA, C++Unit.

Experience of OO Design and UML
