Primary purpose of the position:

An exciting position has arisen at the fulcrum of our global growth satellite and telcomms company at the vanguard innovation. You will be heavily involved in Product and Service Management, including the continued development of broadband data connection technology for anywhere on Earth. The management of SPS products, and product developments related to GSPS deployment.
A key individual is therefore needed to support a full range of activities, covering all Land and Maritime Products under development or in evolution.

The new role will involve testing, system verification and integration as well as operational deployment of our mobile satellite communication systems; it will also encompass the end-to-end delivery of specified projects related to Product Management.

The successful candidate will join the Product and Service Management department within Commercial, Product and Service Management.

Key responsibilities of the position:

The successful candidate will be required to carry out duties to include the following:

Play a key role in the implementation, integration, commissioning and introduction of new services, which will include verifying the system performance in the presence of various impairments both in the laboratory and over the satellite.
Support areas of existing product infrastructure, such as BGAN SIM logistics (including discreet SIM operations).

Essential knowledge and skills:

University degree in relevant IT / Telecommunications subjects, preferably at Masters level.
Solid experience in delivering communications solutions and IT project management.
Good knowledge of system integration, field test and integration campaigns, software development and engineering techniques, protocol testing methods, system modelling and validation techniques.
Professional certification in networks and systems (CCNA / MCP etc).
Hands-on experience with User Terminals / mobile handsets (Satellite / 3G).
In-depth knowledge and experience of TCP/IP, UDP, Ethereal/Wireshark and other network analysis tools.
Full network understanding of 3G / UMTS mobile communications.
Desirable knowledge and skills:

Practical experience and good knowledge of satellite communication systems and equipment (testing and verification, data communication and networking).
Business / Management qualification at diploma level or above a bonus (particularly in Project Management fields).
Knowledge in a range of the following areas, e.g.:
Data communications: TCP/IP, VPN, PPP, L2TP, IPSec
Network management: SNMP, Radius etc.
Departmental interfaces
